This is not just another vampire book. Once again, a book with very strong leading characters!!! Love it!!! You meet Micah, who is a vampire member of an oranization called All the Kings Men. They are sworn to protect mankind and maintain peace between vampires and their cousin the Drecks. When you meet Micah, he is in a very bad way. He has a death wish because he has lost his mate, Jackson. Jackson left him. So Micah enlists the help of a Dreck clan to kill him. In walks Sam, very human and vulnerable. She is a stripper hiding from her abusive husband. When she walks upon a gang of men beating the crap out of one man, her army training kicks in. She pulles out her gun and chases the gang away. She swoops in and saves Micah. Micah has found hope in Sam's eyes. He finds love and a reason to life. But Sam has many enemies now. The Vampires don't want her around because they are suppose to keep their secret from humans. The drecks want to kill her for stepping in on their kill. Her husband wants her back so he can abuse her some more. She has to rely on Micah to protect her....and boy, he does not disappoint. There is lots of passion and excitement in this book. I have never been one to read stories of homosexual love and this book has both. I did not find it repulsive or dirty. It was very sweet.
