This is an excellent book. The continued story of Candy Quackenbush is epic is scope and beautiful in its storytelling. We pick up candy and her companion Malingo a couple weeks after the end of the first Abarat book. This book is full of chase, fantasy, magic, self discovery, horror, and even some swashbuckling for good measure. If you are to read this make sure to track down at least the trade paperback with the b&w illustrations, if not the hardcover with its full color. They add to the story and show the breadth of Barker's talent.
