Trapeze
by Simon Mawer
by Simon Mawer
I've read many books in this genre: World War II French Resistance fiction- and this one was a disappontment. It was not terribly original (except the ending perhaps). Compared to Simon Mawer's Glass House (which I thought was terribly original) this one fell flat with cardboard characters and predictable situations. The ending seemed rushed and unlikely with Clement going to England after his family just happened to escape to Switzerland, something which at that time in the war, was extremely difficult and dangerous. Mediocre is my opinion.
