Trying to escape from an abusive relationship with her husband, Erin Tierney moves to a small town in North Carolina in hopes of leaving her painful past behind. Erin changes her name to Katie and erases any evidence of where she is heading so her husband, Kevin, cannot reach her. She lives a quiet life in her new town and although she isn't very social, she quickly befriends her neighbor, Jo. Katie also befriends Kristin, the six year old daughter of a local store owner, Alex, whose wife had died a couple years earlier. Both Katie and Alex are attracted to each other, but Katie is reluctant to start a new relationship after barely escaping her earlier one. Meanwhile, Kevin, a severe alcoholic, is determined to get revenge on Katie for leaving him, and whoever she might be involved with.
I fairly enjoyed Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I liked that it was slightly more twisted than his other books, but it was very slow in the beginning. I didn't like how expected everything was in the book, there was no exciting turn or twist that made me extremely enthusiastic about the book.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading love stories. Also, anyone who has read, and enjoyed any other books written by Nicholas Sparks.
