** spoiler alert ** This book was incredibly well written. It's easy to see why it won a pulitzer prize. The most interesting thing to me was the style of narration and how Cal as the narrator was able to give both his first person account of events as well as an omniscient account of the events that had taken place before his birth. The two seemed to flow together perfectly. My only disappointment was that the story ended before there was really any resolution to Cal's life and struggles, but I think this probably works for the novel, since Cal himself didn't really seem to know what was going to happen to him.
