liked it
bookshelves: personal-library, read-again
Read in June, 2015 , read count: 4

It's not great literature, but I enjoyed it enough to want to read the next book.

UPDATE: read it again in preparation for reading the next book. The earlier parts of the book work pretty well, but the ending is (a) a bit anticlimactic, and (b) obviously a set-up for book two.

UPDATED UPDATE: one more time through - this time to decide if it's 9-year-old friendly (it is, though there are substantial "magic" elements if that kind of thing bothers you) & prep for reading book three in the series. Still think the ending is weak.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: reading again as I make my way (finally!) through the entire 7 book series. The ending is a bit rushed - but I like the creative ideas behind the series, so I've stuck with it.
