I don't like the frame, which sucks meaning out of this romp. The comedy is low and can be played to be very R rated, but my favorite interpretations make the farce a true love story, where the lady's choosing and knows what she's up to, and the ending is happy and fun. This one's a problem for modern directors because it's so anti-PC. I tell my students it's S's wishful thinking about women and marriage.
