This should have been one of my favorite books of all time, but the crush of detail Caro provides and his total bias against Robert Moses was just brutal, even for me, who loves as much detail as possible. This is one of the few books where I just want to say, "Enough already!" as the author hammers home the same point over and over again...
I have the utmost respect for Caro's abilities as a researcher, and at the time of publication in the early 70's Caro probably needed to be over the top with this book to bring the light on the misdeeeds of Moses...
But for crying out loud, this guy essentially built New York City into what it is today...you gotta respect his ability to coordinate all of the competing interests in the City and in state and federal government to get so much built...
I may write more about this book later, as I recognize that in getting all those projects built Moses trashed and marginalized the lives of millions of citizens who were less importan...more
