Georges is named after a painter. Which is great and all, except that he's 12 and the other kids in middle school don't really appreciate pointillism. When he and his family are forced to move from their house to an apartment, he makes friends with a family in the building and their son Safer. But Safer might not be what he says he is. But who really is, anyway? Another triumph from Stead. Her first-person 12-year-old boy is spot-on: especially the way that things appear to Georges, even when he understands that they aren't as they seem. A quiet, lovely book about family, truth, and friendship.
