by Kim Stanley Robinson
I am a huge fan of Kim Stanley Robinson. So as soon as 2312 popped up for pre-order for Kindle, I was clicking that button and waiting for it to load on my home screen.
As is usual for a Robinson book, this is part hard sci-fi, part eco-drama and part soap opera (mostly the first two). And it did not disappoint. The characters are fascinating, especially Swan er Hong. Although the plot lags here and there (a lot of bouncing around the planets, etc.), the novel contains at least two riveting "action" sequences that are intense, dramatic and romantic - all at once.
I sense this might be part of a series, but I am not sure. In any event, I will be waiting...
Meanwhile, I might go back a re-read a few earlier works of this terrific writer.
