The only thing I found interesting about this book were the segments about archaeology. The rest, for me, was a disappointment.

The plot moves at a snail's pace. I didn't like any of the characters. They were predictable, dull and one-dimensional. There is a lot of time spent on introspection, with the characters going over the same issues again and again in their own minds. I could skip ahead five pages and not miss a thing.

I have not read any of the previous Ruth Galloway novels. Nor did I feel I needed to. So much of the past is rehashed during introspective scenes, I feel like I know all the important (and some minor) events in all the previous stories. I could have easily put this one down halfway through and never picked it up again.
