I thought this was just . . . good, but not great. After everything that happened in the first book, I sort of expected more than this, and I don't know why. It was a bit -- no, a LOT -- self indulgent in the beginning, with the extensive name-dropping of every notable person of that era present IN THE SAME ROOM, and frankly, it was damn hard to follow.

I loved the evolution of Matthew and Diana's relationship, and I loved what Diana has become. From a character-development standpoint, it was aces, but in terms of actually moving the plot forward, I . . . am not so sure.

Looking forward to the next installment, however.

Kristin Yes. I need to echo this. It was OK, but good lord with the names and nicknames. I felt like this was 600 pages of set-up, which means it was like 400 pages too long.
