This took a lot of build up before something concrete finally happened. I was about to abandon it all together but in the end it turned out to be a good read. The best part was imagining what it would be like to be in Scotland and in a place so green and beautiful. Summer in Arizona will do that to you. I am sure Scotland has bad winters but then we have bad summers so I guess the only remedy is to live in California. I found the characterizations very believable and probably this was close to as good as The Shell Seekers.

Verona Sherrill, I like your write ups about the books you've read. You do a good job of summarizing the gist of the story as well as your own impressions. Your thoughts on this book make me want to go back and read The Shell Seekers, which I have on my bookshelf. You will be happy to hear that I downloaded a copy of The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet to read after we talked a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for telling me about it. Happy Reading!
