This semi-graphic, semi-epistolary novel tells the story of Glory Fleming, piano prodigy, and her neighbor, native Argentian Frank Mendoza, who fall in love. Things are not going well in the rest of their lives, however. Frank hates school except for art, and is teetering on the edge of expulsion. Glory is tired of her father dragging her on year-long world tours, and just wants to be with Frank. Then something happens to Glory; she can only play Chopsticks on the piano anymore. Is she going mad?

This book got fabulous reviews, and is very cool in how it's put together (though teachers be aware there are several naked drawings, with the female chest lovingly and repeatedly depicted). I think it takes a deeper reading than I gave it, however, to figure out what exactly happened. Did Glory go mad? I was never sure. I probably need to read it again.
