A U.S. Marine, Logan Thibault, finds a picture of a young woman hidden in the dirt during his tour in Iraq. He first wants to throw it away, but he soon realizes that he has had great luck since he got it. By the end of his time he had witnessed many people die but he has somehow survived it all. Thibault’s best friend Victor seems to think that this picture is his good luck charm. When he returns to Colorado Thibault decides to walk across the country and find the woman in the picture. He walks for five years and when he finally finds her, he cannot figure out what it is that he feels he needs to do for her. He decides to take a job at the dog training facility the woman in the pictures, Elizabeth, grandmother owns. At first Beth resists talking to Logan, but like any good love story, they end up falling in love.
Along the way Logan and Elizabeth face the trouble of her ex-husband trying to break them apart. When her ex-husband, Keith, discovers the picture he uses that against Logan. Keith thinks this would be good enough to split them up, but was their love strong enough to keep them together? The Lucky One was one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. This book kept me intrigued the whole time. Towards the end I got worried about the ending, but Nicholas Sparks fooled me and probably everyone else that has read this book. I highly recommend it and the movie.
