Read from May 25 to June 10, 2012 , read count: 1

A very thick oral history of the first ten years of MTV... while some of the "how did it get started?" stuff was interesting and the "hears how we shot this video" material was catnip for someone who spent the mid-80s with MTV on his apartment pretty much 24/7, it began to read like an extended episode of VH1's "Behind the Music".

Here's what I mean: a bunch of artists, vj's and music video directors tell their stories of excess (sex, drugs, rock'n'roll) with a jaded combination of "you shouldn't do this" and "man, I miss the 80's". After a while, it wears you down.
