Okay, I didn't actually read the entire book. It was a difficult read, in that it was overly engaging. I read the book in chuncks, not straight through. I enjoyed Ms. Ulrich's insights and the history she provided of the era. I think I would have preferred a historical biography with exerts from the journal to illustrate rather than predominately journal with only occasional exerts from the author to expond on the history. I know other reviewers love the book because the majority of the story comes from the journal??? I was left wanting more information than her tight, short entries provided.
