A cool fusion of genres, and passionate writing. I felt it could have included much more on the inner lives of the rest of the Guard, and Ibrahim's emotional journey needed more attention, because it was such a powerful element of the novel. The emotional note is pretty constant, and would have benefited from more variation. I'd read the other books in the series, I really got into this.
