How fitting to finish this book on the eve of Memorial Day. This should be high school required spring reading. The suffering our POW's experienced written in this book makes you want bow down to all the members of our armed forces for keeping our country safe. So many lives lost and suffering... and for what. My now deceased father served in Japan, and though he experienced none, (thank you God) of the suffering described here, I wish he was alive to hear his stories. Nice job Ms. Hillenbrand. Very moving. Sometimes it's good to read a powerful non-fiction to get your mind going.
