A loving analysis of the life and work of Spalding Gray by his good friend William W. Demastes. There is too often a desire to force his thesis that Gray was a cipher for American dualism, which seems to contradict the intended effort to locate the man inside the art. Overall it was a sound reading of Gray's work and has me wishing that suicide and depression were cured. I miss Spalding and will reconnect with his art due to the reading of this book.
