This was a fairly good book; not the greatest I've ever read for the most part that I was pretty ambivilant toward the main pairing in the book. Yes, I liked Kelehnus quite a bit however Demnor, I wasn't too fond of him. And from someone who's driven largely by pairing goggles, that was what toned down my rating for it. Granted the plot was absorbing else I wouldn't of wasted two hours of my life in the bathtub finishing it. There was a great deal of dukes and lords to keep track of and half the time the women seemed more like men then actual women, perhaps it's the cavalier attitude toward gender but it really seemed as if the women got smacked with the man-fish as well.

I will read the next books in the series because I do want to read more about the country of Branion, but do I love it as well as I love some series/countries? No, not really. The likes of Skala and Valdemar will always trump places such as Branion in my heart's eye.
