Beneath The Shadows
Sara Foster

My "in a nutshell" summary...

Adam and Grace and new baby Millie return to Adam's grandparents home in a remote teeny village outside of London.  Events occur that are unexplainable!

My thoughts about this book...

Grace and Millie are left alone to return to the cottage to try to put their lives back together.  Grace feels both welcomed and unwelcomed by residents of this strange little town.  She begins to sort through the detritus of Adam's family home to try to sort out what happened and to decide what her next step should be.  The village appears to be linked to ghost stories and other unworldly creatures that put Grace on edge as she and Millie stay there.  Looming over everything is the mystery of Adam and what happened to him.
There are secrets and whispers as Grace becomes more and more determined to figure out what happened.

What I loved about this book...

Grace and Millie...they were brave and sweet and functioning almost alone.   The ghost like scary stuff was eerie and chilling...the noises, the scary basement in the cottage and all of the stuff that Grace uncovered as more and more family history was revealed.  Ben...the kindly handsome man of mystery who was helping Grace and baby Millie...seemed to always be there when Grace needed someone!

What I didn't love...

At one point I thought the ending was a bit flat but I think that was only because I wasn't ready for any ending...I was so into the actual reading of it that I wanted the book to go on a tad longer...

Final thoughts...

A yummy Englishy biscuity tea drinking mystery.  I loved the setting, the characters, the writing.  It was a lovely scary cozy mystery!
