Let me say that I enjoyed this fictional account very much. Unfortunately, the book's title is not representative of its content. The story focuses on Wallis Simpson's life BEFORE she even knew Prince Edward! The title should have been, "The Life of Bessie Wallis Warfield Spencer Simpson, Her Life Before Prince Edward". THAT would have been an appropriate title.

The author uses much latitude in creating this story. Yes, it's fiction, but several of the book's central characters are totally fabricated by the author. In historical fiction, I expect that conversations and many specifics are made up in order to render an interesting, plausible story. In this book however, several key characters exist only in the author's imagination. This realization is very disappointing.

So, while I thought the book was fun as I was reading it, I felt duped upon completing it. My rating would have been a 4, if the book had been true to its title and had continued into her lifelong relationship with Prince Edward.
