I recently read a review for the latest Jane Whitefield book that sang the praises of the series, so I decided to start with book 1. The premise of a Native American, female main character who functions as guide to help people escape danger and create new identities is intriguing, but the plot stunk. I saw the "twist" coming a mile away, about 40 pages in to be exact. I may try another one at some point to see how the heroine develops, she is great, but if the plots get no less predictable, that will be all she gets.
