This is a succinct slice of fiction. It's what you might call flash fiction, but the word count is too high for that. But it does flash. What you get in these pages is the rich promise of an author just now stretching her limbs and getting ready to craft some fine fiction. There is a definite voice here, which is a difficult thing for authors to develop. There is also strength in the narration.

It all shows the potential for wonderful things to take shape in what I hope will be a long writing career.
