I'm not usually one who goes straight for the "African" section of my local bookstore and I most likely would not have ever read this book had it not been for the fact that I had to pick this book up for a class in my freshman year of college. And yet, I am so glad that I picked up this book. This is probably one of the best books that I have ever read.

I've always been interested in history and yet, I have never picked up a book relating to African history unless it was something about American slavery. However, African history (because of this book) is now something that I am actually very interested in now. Throughout my life I have learned about the colonization of Africa, through the histories of other countries (such as Britain, France, Germany, etc). However, this is the first book about African colonization through the eyes of Africans that really grabbed my attention. It is definitely great to see these kinds of events through the eyes of different people.

I would definitely recommend this book for people who are interested in reading something very different from the every day kind of book. This book is very telling of African culture during the 1950s and especially during the colonization of Africa.
