For me, this was an American version of Memoir of a Geisha. Both are written by male authors, which I find fascinating. And they are stories of women who must use their heads in a setting in which men prefer to view them as beautiful objects to be owned (or rented).

For fans of the "high life" there is more than enough. The author, whose playground includes the highest boating circles (America's cup, etc.) and fabulous international travel, weaves in his world from the perspective of a destitute immigrant that soon takes men for all their worth and leaves them wanting more...of what?

Great summer read....even if you don't have a 150 ft. yacht to lounge on while reading.
