it was amazing

As memoirs go - the reader can only hope that the author has lived an interesting life and has spent some time in reflection, and can articulate the journey. Peter Coyote is a gold medal winner in all three of my memoir categories. He was part of the the improvisational mime troupe that helped form the Diggers and the Free Family in SF in the 60s, then lived in Olema (!) where he finally ran afoul of the Hells Angels, whose leader he had befriended in the city. He tells the stories of daily communal living and philosophic wrangling with some learned humility and some great insight. I loved this book, but it didn't make me want to be a hippy.
