Read from August 14 to October 14, 2012

I needed a good, creepy book for October and this fit the bill - although a little too disturbing at times for my taste (I'm a mom and its hard for me to read about children getting hurt).

Cora and her sister Mimi are sent to live with their mother's aunt, whom they've never met before. Unbeknownst to the sisters, the last time two girls lived in the house one of them disappeared. The Aunt comes off as cruel and uncaring in her attempt to protect the sisters. She sets up all sorts of strange rules - but sadly for all, it is not enough and the legend of Long Lankin begins to be replayed.

Without giving too much away, I will say that Long Lankin is one of the creepiest monsters I've ever read about.
