The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)

This is it, the last book in the series. They are always so hard to review without ruining it (but I’m so late in the game, is there anyone left to spoil?). It’s the final showdown, Percy and his Camp Half-Blood Brethren vs. Kronos/Luke, the half bloods he’s swayed to his side and every irritated minor god, Titan and monster he can summon up.
Percy still has Annabeth and Grover on his side, not to mention Nico, the son of Hades. All the secrets come out now: the full prophecy, Annabeth’s link to Luke, Luke and Nico’s family lives. Heroes are going to die. Others will be faced with hard choices. Percy isn’t even sure he IS the hero of the prophecy as Hades points out killing Percy will buy them four years until Nico is sixteen.
Knowing he could easily die, Percy takes risks to ensure that he can meet Kronos/Luke in battle. He is prepared to hold Manhattan while the Gods are trying to bring down the Titans (and themselves in some cases) or die trying.
Last book I was a little disappointed in Annabeth’s role and while there was still some Annabeth-Rachel jealousy, Annabeth’s role was much better this time. It’s an action-packed last book. The series ends on a high note and satisfies completely.
