First up, I like this series. I wouldn't keep buying the books if I didn't! But just like the last installment, this one had some believability issues, now they were nowhere as bad as in Armed & Dangerous, but they were still there. So I am going to break down my rating by characterization, plot, pacing and chemistry. The four most important things to me in a novel.

CHARACTERIZATION

I love Ty and Zane's characters and their dysfunctional families were a hoot, but as other reviewers have stated, Ty felt a bit off in this installment. Yes, Zane has mellowed being in love with Ty, so you could expect Ty to calm down. But the fact from the beginning of the book they were worried about coming out as a couple, only to out themselves at every turn seemed implausible. (I graded up just for Chester!)
Grade: 4/5

PLOT

I disliked the plot of the last book because it was not realistic in an law enforcement world I've ever been in. This book had more relationship issues than the usual action stuff, which I totally enjoyed. However, again the realism was lacking in this book too. The whole tiger thing while cute just didn't fit into the Ty and Zane's world. Plus brother-in-law Mark "knowing" Ty at Camp Lejeune? Not possible unless they were on the same team. That place is HUGE! I actually laughed at that part. So the action/realism aspect of this book flopped for me.
Grade: 2.5/5

PACING

The pace of the books have slowed down. If you love a focus on relationship issues you will love this, but if you like the love story and the action to be equal, you will be disappointed.
Grade: 3/5

CHEMISTRY

As usual the smoking hot chemistry between Zane and Ty is off the charts. Ty in a Stetson riding Zane? Scorching! But the sex scene in the honky-tonk bar? I wasn't buying it.
Grade: 4/5

Personally for me, I think the series should end with the next book. Get Ty and Zane their final HEA and end it on a high note as I just can't see the author sustaining the pacing, plot, action or chemistry for three more installments. YMMV.

Overall grade: 3.375 (rounded down to 3).

Arthur I agree that Abi should stop with a high note. Most famous book series end at Book 5 (Adrian Mystery) or Book 7 (Harry Potter). Otherwise, it's bound that either one of them cheat, the couple breaks up, or the story becomes unbelievable and it becomes soap opera. None I'd like to see.

Lasha I totally agree, Arthur.
