Esperanza is a rich girl from mexico but when her dad is killed and house burns down she lives the life of a poor person.this book makes you appreciate the unworking, poor, and homeless. Esperanza's mom is along with her on her journey to get away from Mexico to the united states.where she learns how hard it is to work at the job. The troubles in this book are Esperanza's grandma is back in Mexico, mama got sick ,and a dust storm blew away the crops. I would recommend this book to the people who think that they are rich and have so much money that they don't care about others. This will change the way they see others that don't have a lot of money.
