The last fifty pages of the book caused me to drop my rating from 5 stars to 3. The concept was unique and the presentation excellent until the author lost interest or had led his characters into impossible situations where his answer was detailed, extreme violence.

There was almost no deviation from the bare-bones facts presented in the New Testament, just embellishment which filled out a good story. One exception was having St. John the Baptist years older than Jesus, when the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth came while both were pregnant. Another came with Gaspar and Melchior being the thieves crucified with Christ.

The author's selection of his photo was interesting to me. As teenagers living on the mainland side of Long Island Sound and visiting Jones Beach and relatives living on Long Island, we were convinced that all Long Island girls were beautiful blondes and all Li boys were doofuses. Today I'd have to add talented ones.
