Lehane does it again. This is his "War and Peace." Vast in its scope, it deals with, among other things, the Boston Police Strike of 1919, the influenza pandemic at the end of WWI, and race in America. And, Lehane's ability to draw well developed characters set in early 20th century America and its preoccupation with the scare of communism and early labor unions make this a very entertaining and informative read. It follows the lives several key characters and their efforts to make sense of a changing America. If you have read any of his previous books and like his style, this is a must read. Lehane has done it again.
