I really wanted to like this book, but it didn't make sense.

It was supposed to take place in the aftermath of a coup in 70s Buenos Aires but it didn't seem to relate to the location in anyway.

The author's tone is light, almost silly, and his plotting is slim and so implausible that the horrifying truths of the situation loss any serious meaning.

I assume he did this on purpose but he lost me in the process.
