I liked that Edgar could communicate and train the dogs without words. Parts of the story are heart breaking. The ending was stunning, even though it was expected. I'm fine with anthropomorphism as long as the animal's needs are taken care of first. Animals do have feelings and deserve to be treated well. They are our companions, these "next" dogs.
