Timeless classic. Two lovers from warring houses, a play re-done and adapted many times that always rings true. I read this for the first time in junior highschool. At 20 I joined my second professional theatre company and played the role in a Shakespeare touring company, carriage house players out of Louisville Kentucky. I performed the role on this tour 50 plus times. I have seen LA shakespeare perform it with Amy Irving as Juliet -- one of the best performances of the role I have ever seen. I have seen both the seventies' incarnation and the nineties' with Leonardo deCaprio. what ever ones opinion of the movies -- versions of Romeo and Juliet seem to reflect the youthful angst of the times in which they are performed, no matter what period is used to tell the story. The play is in my heart.
