This was won on a Goodreads giveaway . . . Thank You!!! I honestly wanted to read this book because it was set in Wisconsin . . . my home state. The more I read, it became interesting to say the least. Many of the places mentioned I've been to or know about. I attended the UW, had relatives outside of Milwaukee and a family cabin in Eagle River(almost at the Michigan border of the UP). I came to admire Ben for doing all the right things in turning his life around . . . he seemed to want to become a better person, but just didn't quite know how to meet the ultimate challenge of letting go of his past of making a better life for himself. Along comes Lauren, reserved & defensive, whom he knows from high school. They begin a relationship that develops and culminates with a harrowing experience in the UP. I liked how at times the story is set in a diary narrative of sorts; back & forth between Ben, Lauren & once I believe Will. Well written with character development; certainly a recommendation to friends and family. Great Book!!!
