Melinda is starting high school and everyone at school hates her. I mean honestly, can anyone think of a worse nightmare?

Ms. Anderson NAILS high school in this book. I was there, all over again. (I did not experience what Melinda did) yet I could FEEL being back in the hallways, the awkward horrid cafeteria, the leering guys, art class, all of it.

The book deserves every award it's gotten.

Interesting prose, too. The author keeps the story moving quickly. There isn't a chance to be bored. The gift is, it's one of those books that sticks with you (haunts you) long after you're done.

“My head is killing me, my throat is killing me, my stomach bubbles with toxic waste. I just want to sleep. A coma would be nice. Or amnesia. Anything, just to get rid if this, these thoughts, whispers in my mind.”
