This book was okay. It isn't the worst thing that I have ever read. This is a very teen book, but I think that this is a great intro book from children/tween novels to teen fiction. DJ is just a girl who works on her families farm. Her family has problems, and her dad has a bad hip so DJ is the one hauling hay. Brian (the popular hunk for the rival school) has to work on the farm, and ends up getting trained by DJ, for football. can guess what happens, they both start to like one another, and then that gets interrupted when DJ joins the football team, and plays against their rivals, and that means trying to beat her hunky crush! This book would be perfect for girls who aren't the cheerleader, or the girl next store. It has a great message for everyone: you can obtain the impossible and break free from the ordinary and mundane.

Kissing: Oh ya....DJ gets some lip action.

Homosexuality: Yep there is "one of those people" aka lesbian friend in this book.

Alcohol: DJ and her friends do drink at a party, and around town.
