Reflections on the Revolution in France (Oxford World's Classics) by Edmund Burke
A classic of conservative thought, very helpful for understanding the climate in which Jane Austen was writing, and immensely heavy going -- it took me about 6 months to finish! I'm glad I read it, but am unlikely to reread it soon. Or ever.
