really liked it

I have never really read a book like this before, so I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but I really enjoyed this novel. I didn't think I was going to become so absorbed in the story of Iris and Ambrose, Rose, Wendell and Dr. Cowell and be so amused and entertained by Lydia Helms Truman and others; but I found that Blue Asylum grabbed me and plunged me deep into the life of plantations and the civil war. How easily a prominent plantation owner can get his way and the struggles to rebound from those wrongs and the rippling effect of each decision.
I found myself cheering on Iris and worrying about her fate.
Great job Kathy Hepinstall, for a story well done and for making the everyday lives of regular people from the civil war era come alive between the pages.
