Stolen Prey (Lucas Davenport, #22)
by John Sandford
by John Sandford
A quick and fun read, yet again from John Sandford. This time the grossness factor was present but not as icky as in other Davenport books. The killers this time are hired help, methodical, not particularly enjoying their work, just doing what they are told. And being very brutal.
There a several interconnecting crimes this time around. One crime involves computer hackers and missing bank funds. Another crime involves the laundering of drug money for a Mexican crime boss. The third crime has to do with ATM hijackers. The fourth involves a stolen sculpture.
We spend time with Lucas Davenport's circle of good guys with questionable ethics and with Davenport's growing family. Sandford knows his readers well and meets our expectations. I'm never bored and never quite sure about the outcome.
