The Merry Fates, otherwise known as Maggie Stiefvate, Brenna Yovanoff, and Tessa Gratton, share their short stories that starting as a writing exercise. In the pages, the authors explore common plots and characters (like King Arthur) ideas that never quite made it into novels, and spooky plot lines. The stories are all a little macabre, but fans of their work, or anyone looking for a couple of quick stories will enjoy this collection. Really the only fault I had with this collection were the handwritten comments and doodles from the authors because they sometimes distracted me from the text without adding much feeling. Overall though, a quick read for those who love their stories a little spooky and sinister.

Full disclosure: I read an uncorrected proof from Net Galley.
