it was ok
bookshelves: disappointing
Read in September, 2008

I LOVED Snow Falling on Cedars. Found this one disappointing. Maybe because I read it when I was sick it didn't get enough of my focus, and I think the writing is skillful -- themes of friendship and wilderness and a slight foray into discussion of mental illness...quite effective.

I hated the mother, which means her characterization was right on, of course...and the book captured the feel of the Northwest and the wilderness very well....maybe it needs another star from me but I don't know, so I am leaving it at 2.
