it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, book-club
Recommended for: Anyone who likes Kate DiCamillo and The Penderwicks
Read in September, 2008

I got this book because of a bookstore employee's recommendation which was "if you like the tender stories of Kate DiCamillo and The Penderwicks, you will love this book." Now having read the book I would say that is spot on. It is not a rehashing of any of those books, but it does draw on the same tone, poetic language & uplifting nature of other great juvenile fiction. It is about a young girl who discovers that everyone's talents are unique, and not always what we expect, and that good things can come out of bad experiences. The knowledge gained through her experiences help her become the kind of person she wants to be--Herself! Beautiful!
