The Jefferson Lies: Exposing the Myths You've Always Believed about Thomas Jefferson

Everyone who is interested in history ought to read this well documented book that shows how very UNobjective historians are in their portrayals of historical figures and events. This author shows how so much of the modern view of Jefferson is just plain WRONG. The book documents each lie, quotes modern historians that accept and repeat the lie, quote MULTIPLE documents that show that the opposite is actually true, then shows how the lie originated, quoting letters and contemporary documents and articles to back up these assertions. Lies include the accepted "fact" of Jefferson's fathering children with his slave (he actually looks at the DNA "evidence"), his atheism, his attempts to secularize the U of Virginia and all government and public discourse, his racism. NONE of those are actually true, though scraps of his writing, taken out of context or only partially quoted, are used as "proofs." The author embeds these bits more completely in their original documents and letters so that readers can come to their own conclusions. The author's bias as an orthodox Christian comes very clearly in his last chapter of conclusions, but his bias doesn't keep him from presenting the areas in which Jefferson differs from orthodox Christianity, and his documentation backs up what he says.
