I read through a substantial part of this book before it even hinted to me that it was published decades ago. In today's political climate, The Handmaid's Tale is more relevant than ever. Additionally, the writing style is purposeful: the main character's voice is well-developed and the imagery is concrete. The story felt more like a memoir than like a novel about a hypothetical dystopian future.

All in all, a riveting read.
