Chasing Lincoln's Killer is a true account of the murder of our sixteenth president shortly after the end of the Civil War in 1865. Based on primary sources, interviews, letters and other materials, Swanson pieces together a page-turning account of John Wilkes Booth's hatred of the Union and ultimate assassination of Lincoln in attempt to seek revenge for the defeat of the Confederacy.

For twelve days after the murder of the president and attempted murders of other high United States officials, Booth and his accomplices were on the run with numerous Confederate supporters protecting them from law officials pursuing justice. Although I prefer fiction to nonfiction, the book's fast-pace, interesting facts and exciting content kept my interest all of the way until the end.
