Alisa's review
Shift by Jennifer Bradbury
I thought this was a great premise - guy has spat with best friend while on cross-country bike ride. They part ways in anger and make their journeys home separately. You're pissed so you don't really care about getting in touch with your friend anytime soon. Then it turns out...he never came home. And then there's that missing $20,000.
The mystery was set up fantastically, and the clues to the personality of the missing friend were very well-done. But, adult-reader me, I suppose, was disappointed that it turned out nothing very sinister was afoot.
By the end we were all back on familiar YA ground - parents, being your own person, no real danger, blah blah. And what was all that Jacob wrestling with the angel bit?
